Synopsis: Donald is bragging about his hunting skills
to such a degree that the nephews decide to put
him to the test.
Comments: This is just the first story of several in
which Donald sees himself as an expert, and in
which the nephews consequently decide to tease
him. As they say in the story: Unca Donald is
a windbag - we've gotta take him down a notch!
Another example is WDCS049 where
Donald sees himself as an expert tight wire
artist, but the nephews manage to bring him down...
WDCS061
- 1945
Synopsis: The nephews are playing detective and Donald
decides to tease them. But they solve the case
anyway.
Comments: In reality, Donald demonstrates poor
qualities as a parent, because the nephews are in
fact role-playing in a both interesting and
educating way. Perhaps he is teasing them out of
sheer boredom - or envy?
WDCS077
- 1947
Synopsis: Donald discovers beetles in his garden and
tries to dispose of them. Later the nephews
disguise themselves as beetles to tease him.
Comments: The story demonstrates teasing back and
forth between the two parties; first the nephews
decide to play a prank on Donald, and then Donald
retaliates. Another similar example can be found
in WDCS236 where the parties are
'dueling' with frogs.
WDCS081
- 1947
Synopsis: The nephews draw a treasure map for a game
they intend to play. Donald finds the bogus map...
Comments: Donald takes the nephews along to the spot
which proves to be in the center of a missile
target range. In WDCS235 Donald
got hold of a bogus deed drawn by the nephews,
which also brings them to a military installation.
WDCS109
- 1949
Synopsis: The nephews are certain that they can find
water using their diviner. Of course, Donald
immediately sets out to tease them...
Comments: The story takes an unexpected turn when
Donald suddenly realizes that the diviner might
not be bogus. The family heads for the desert in
order to find precious water. The time for
teasing is over...
WDCS127
- 1951
Synopsis: The nephews are trying their best to make a
sucker out of Donald on April Fools' Day but they
are not very successful.
Comments: How fulfilling is it when you try to tease
someone, and he does not even notice your efforts?
This is Barks' basic plot, and he manages to
steer Donald through the whole story without him
having a single clue that the nephews are out to
get him. On the contrary, Donald has a perfect
day!
WDCS168
- 1954
Synopsis: The nephews' mascot - the chipmunk
Cheltenham - annoys Donald and he decides to get
even. Using alligators!
Comments: A great idea for a teasing story: The
nephews want a small crocodile as a pet, but
despite Donald's verbal warnings that such a
creature grows up to be of a duck-eating size
they will not budge. So Donald turns to a
practical demonstration...
