MOUNT MUSHMORE MONUMENT DISFIGURED
By Scottie McTerrier
.

A terrible calamity has struck the carved statue head of our beloved former Senator Snoggin in Duckburg's Mount Mushmore National Park. We all now how the Calisota representative in the US Senate has worked tirelessly for the prosperity of our state and especially for Duckburg, where he was born, and the monument represents only a small token of gratitude from his fellow citizens.

Imagine our sheer horror when we learned that part of the structure collapsed during the night. Apparently, the senator's forehead has slid down and caused his nose to come off as well. At the moment the senator's profile looks more like an angry gorilla than the sublime being we all know.

Tourists at the site before the tragedy

The park foreman says: During the last days, we have had some maintenance work done. A Donald, uh, Duck, I believe, assisted by his three nephews (I forget their names) were cleaning up the whole structure so that it could be presented best possible before an official visit by the Governor. I sure don't know what has happened overnight.

        .

Commenting on the statue's new look the foreman continues: This surely reminds me of the Egyptian Sphinx who also lost his nose. This happened many years ago thanks to a French tourist named, uh, Napoleon. Or was his name Obelix? I don't recall for certain. So maybe our new nosy (teehee) attraction will get as visited by tourists as the Egyptian one... (WDCS204)

An assistant cleaning up

Just in: We have tried to reach Mr. Duck for a comment but he is at the moment unavailable for questioning at his current address at 13 Quack Street. It is rumored that he has suddenly traveled to Timbuktu in Africa without leaving any explanation. Investigation progresses.
