* It is extremely hard to disclose the exact payments Barks received for his front covers starting with WDCS163, because payments are divided into different amounts, transferred at different times, and booked under different codes. Not even Barks' personal ledgers shed light on the 'puzzle' as he sometimes booked amounts that differed from Western's payslips. Therefore the payments from here on are fixed to $67.50 ($17.50 for story and $50.00 for art) which seems to be the most plausible figure. Note 1:
