The couple's ideas of interior decoration were not unusual apart from the fact that they had their paintings on most of the wall spaces. Here they functioned as some sort of 'working' exhibition, because frequent sales brought on new paintings all the time. Both Garé and Carl had specially designed studios, and - as you can see from the examples - these were redecorated from time to time.
