Carl
Barks' adult life can be divided into three time periods:
the years of different odd jobs, the years as a comic book writer
and artist, and the years of painting. These pages will show how
the two latter periods have a bridge between them. Barks drew
a great number of stories for Western and a lot of them were
later reworked into paintings. The paintings are often
amazingly similar to the panels that inspired them. The
following pages show most of them. They have each been given a
page of their own to show them in reasonable sizes.
The numbers (and titles) used, refer to the most commonly
recognized numbering system for Barks' paintings.
