Barks found ample room in his comic book panels to place sculptures and statues. In some cases they simply functioned as background ornaments, but in most cases they played important roles in the plots. Whether they were contained to the vicinity of Duckburg or far-away countries. To Barks they were not just ordinary works of art; he always had a twinkle in his eye when dreaming up his very personal versions of the different sculptures.
