DISNEY PAINTINGS
REMARKS:
1. The
lists in the sub-pages have been given the code numbers that
Barks used. For example, his first duck painting from 1971 is
also known as 1-71, but it was actually booked and coded as 13-71
indicating that Barks had already finished 12 other paintings (landscapes
and portraits) that year.
2. Barks' selling prices - all in dollars, of
course - were based on two important factors; the size of the
individual painting and how much work (how much detail) was
necessary. Barks added a mandatory 5% tax to the prices.
3. Several times Barks gave a 10% discount off
the agreed prices. The prices shown are all his net prices.
4. The purchasers of the paintings were a
mixture of friends and collectors. Their names are all known to
this website, but they will not be revealed without the consent
of the individual buyers.
5. A few of the paintings never received an
official title. Brief descriptions (which are Barks' own words)
are placed within parentheses.
6. The paintings are made using oil or acrylic
colours (see more HERE).
7. Many of the painting motifs can be found in
this website as preliminary sketches.
8. The rendered sizes of the paintings in the sub-pages
are not comparative to each other but merely sized to meet the
standard layout design for the pages.
