Land of the Pygmy Indians - 1957 Synopsis:
Scrooge longs for some peace and quiet so he
buys a large, remote area to enjoy its
tranquillity. But the land is inhabited...
Comments:
Barks was a concerned environmentalist all
of his adult life, long before the term was even
a household word. In his stories he would
occasionally add some of his views in more or
less disguised forms, but maybe his overall
indignation of the way we treat our planet was
best expressed in this story.
It is not a great surprise that the money-fixated
Scrooge finds it hard to transform into an
environmentalist, but the nephews have no trouble
in this novel field, in fact, they continued
their environmental work in several separate JW
stories - and mostly with Scrooge as their
opponent (see more HERE).
