26 1952 Trick or Treat
The story originates from a Jack Hannah
produced Donald Duck cartoon by the same name -
and from the same year - and Barks was asked to
make a comic book version. At the time, the
cartoon was not finished and Barks just had to
use some of the storyboard sketches as reference
material. Realizing that the cartoon could not
fill a normal 32-pager, he altered the story to
such a degree that it can be said to be mostly
his creation. One of the innovations is the
monster Smorgasbord. Barks did not view the
actual cartoon until several years later |
