DESIGNS

This is a brief presentation of all the figurines Barks had made after his sketches and directions. It should be noted that only figurines that were produced in numbers are mentioned. The figurines came in two materials, either Porcelain (Fine Bone China) or Bronze, and they are shown in chronological order within each category.
You will notice that some information is missing for a few of the figurines. If you have any additional information please email

PORCELAIN

Most of the 10 porcelain figurines were distributed by Another Rainbow Publishing owned and managed by Bruce Hamilton. They were limited editions but not all met the sales expectations. Some were never even made in the proposed quantities. In March 2001 Hamilton decided to destroy the remaining figurines in order to prevent people from obtaining brand-new figurines at their original prices. 10 people attended the event: Hamilton, family members, collectors and one representative from Disney. The actual clubbing was done by Hamilton's grandchildren who destroyed material worth 250,000 dollars!

The figures marked in red show the number of each figurine still in existence.

BONUS

Barkster
(1993)

Diamond Collections Carl Barks Lifetime Achievement Award - known as the Barkster - was established in 1993 and designed by Barks who was also the first recipient.

Barks explained about the bronze statuette: I was approached by Steve Geppi who was going to create a special award and name it the Barkster. He asked me to design one for him. Well, I went ahead and designed it, to try to make something simple - kind of like the Oscar that they give away in Hollywood, which is a simple thing that a man can hold in his hand - but it also had to be slightly comic and look a little bit like it was designed by a cartoonist.

The figurine has a height of 203mm, and was limited to 100 copies. It was sculpted by Randy Bowen, and signed and numbered by Barks himself.
