During his golden years Carl Barks experienced the publishing of a number of books containing his many comic book stories. The first publication covering most of the material was the Carl Barks Library (CBL) that was issued from 1983 to 1990 in a stunning showoff of stories, sketches, new material, interviews, and informative articles. On this page you are presented to a graphic rendering of all the front covers in this series.

Explanatory comments:

The giant series consists of 10 hardbound and boxed slipcase sets each containing 3 books Due to the magnitude of the task (there are more than 7,500 pages) it took 8 years to complete it and the sets came in an irregular order (8,1,3,9,4,2,7,5,6,10) numbered with Roman numerals Each set diagram consists of the specific slipcase cover followed by the 3 matching book front covers marked F for Front (the back covers which are not illustrated are marked B for Back The slipcase covers are the same front and back The covers were not necessarily placed in chronological order by the publisher Not all the covers were made by Barks Most of the covers are updated versions of original covers from Western Publishing Barks made brand-new covers for slipcases #3 and #8.

Although Barks was not seriously involved with the project (he basically acted as a consultant and he also made a couple of new covers), he received a steady flow of royalty payments and fees. They amounted to almost 360,000 dollars in 39 part payments covering the period between 1984 and 1995.
