WOLVES (1936) In this second sequel to Three Little Pigs, the frivolous pigs blow Practical Pig's wolf horn once too many times, and he refuses to come when they actually are captured by Big Bad Wolf and the Three Little Wolves. Practical Pig manages to save them in the nick of time with a Wolf Pacifier. Comments: Barks worked as an in-betweener on a few wolf scenes. |

THRU THE MIRROR
(1936) Mickey Mouse dreams he steps through his bedroom mirror into a land where all the furnishings and objects are animated and he can interact with them. But they are not all friendly, and after Mickey dances with the queen in a deck of playing cards, the king becomes jealous and orders the cards to attack him. He is sent back through the mirror as the alarm clock wakes him up. Comments: Barks worked as an in-betweener on the scene where Mickey dances like Fred Astaire. |

ALPINE CLIMBERS (1936) Pluto and Bolivar (Bornworthy) act as rescue dogs in the mountains. They have to rescue Mickey Mouse and Donald Duck from the perils of the uninviting place which also includes an unpleasant encounter with a condor. Comments: Barks worked as an in-betweener on the scene in which Donald is battling the fierce bird. |

FANTASIA
(1940) A full two hour animated film in 8 sequences conducted by Leopold Stokowski and The Philadelphia Orchestra. The sequences are as follows: Toccata and Fugue in D Minor (Bach), The Nutcracker Suite (Tchaikowsky), The Sorcerer's Apprentice (Dukas), Rite of Spring (Stravinsky), Pastoral Symphoni (Beethoven), Dance of the Hours (Ponchielli), Night on Bald Mountain (Mussorgsky) and Ave Maria (Schubert). The film was presented in Fantasound, an early stereo system, and won an Academy Award for this unique innovation. Comments: Barks worked as an in-betweener on the scene where Mickey Mouse is battling the flood of water in The Sorcerer's Apprentice. |

BAMBI (1942) Life story of the fawn Bambi, who grows up with the rabbit Thumper and the skunk Flower, to be the Great Prince of the forest. As he grows up he suffers through the death of his mother at the hand of hunters, falls in love with Faline, and barely escapes a catastrophic forest fire. Comments: Barks worked as an in-betweener on a scene where two squirrels try to crack a nut, but the scene was later scrapped. He also dreamt up the famous scene in which Bambi and Thumper play on the icy lake. |
