From 1978 to 1980
Carl Barks did not hold a license to paint the Disney ducks, so in that
period of time he created a great number of adventurous and appealing
paintings in several other categories. The largest one Barks
grandiosely referred to as Famous Figures of
History as they might have looked if their Genes had gotten mixed with
Waterfowl. In the category he placed his special
versions of diverse famous characters from real life, mythology, and the
Bible. Many of the characters were subjected to Barks' humourous wordplay
on their real names.
On this page you
are presented to a broad selection of authentic characters divided into
their best known careers in the broad sense of the term, i.e. jobs, livelihoods, metiers,
or occupations. Each section
contains 2 examples (there might well be more to choose from), and they
bear loosely divided headers meaning that several of the characters
could easily have been placed in other sections as well.

* Idea sketch. Never finished. The preliminary code #4-80 was later used for a Scrooge McDuck montage instead. |
