Carl Barks' duck universe swarms with all sorts of criminals! In the stories we are constantly met by characters performing the whole spectrum of crimes from the more innocent kind such as cheating to the much more serious kind such as murderous intent. Not even the ducks are angels all of the time: Donald wrecks his surroundings, Gladstone exploits his fellow beings, and Scrooge makes shady deals. This page will concentrate on the 10 worst criminals, and they are presented in ascending order in accordance with the seriousness of their crimes.

#10
Lawyer Sharky
In FC0408 The Golden Helmet the swindler Azure Blue possesses an old map which can make him King of North America. But he has to find a special helmet first.

Although Blue seems to be a hardened criminal, he is in reality superceded by his lawyer Sharky, who has no hesitation at all changing sides as he sees fit. Apart from the fact that a lawyer should be trustworthy he is also aiding Blue in his criminal mission.

#9
Magica de Spell
Magica is generally thought to be one of Scrooge's toughest opponents, because of her magic abilities. She is also seen as one of his meanest adversaries, because of her relentlessness, but Magica is in fact relatively harmless. However, she is still a shrewd criminal (the only woman on the list) who will stop at nothing to get Scrooge's lucky dime.

#8
The Beagle Boys
The Beagle Boys (who are treated as one unit in this list) also seem to have dedicated their criminal careers to stealing money from Scrooge, but they want it all. Still, they are never bloodthirsty and although their often bungling attempts frequently make us smile, their deeds are extremely felonious - and costly to Scrooge!

#7
Soapy Slick
In U$59 North of the Yukon the crooked moneylender Soapy Slick finds an overdue IOU of Scrooge's but the old duck is quite sure that he has a receipt somewhere. When Slick realizes that he will not be able to swindle Scrooge out of most of his fortune he tries to shoot him.

#6
Porkman de Lardo
In U$41 The Status Seeker millionaire de Lardo is out to hinder Scrooge from finding a certain candy-striped ruby. He starts off by hiring the Beagle Boys to hijack Scrooge's ship and ends up by ordering them to sink the ship by cannon fire.

#5
Scalpnick
In U$52 The Great Wig Mystery the fast-talker Scalpnick is suing Scrooge for one maximajillion dollars in damages after he has staged an accident. The amount is greater than anything heard of before, which makes Scalpnick the biggest swindler in the duck universe. Later on he makes several attempts on the ducks' lives.

#4
Whan Beeg Rhat
In U$64 The Treasure of Marco Polo the ducks are in Unsteadystan during a revolution headed by General Beeg Rhat. Under his rule people are suppressed, agents are spying on visitors, soldiers are killed, and Donald and Scrooge are placed before a firing squad. The ruthless dictator does not yield to anyone.

#3
Chisel McSue
In FC0495 'The Horseradish Treasure' the good-for-nothing McSue presents Scrooge with a contract in which Scrooge must find a certain lost case of horseradish or he will have to give McSue all his money.

When McSue is about to succeed he cold-heartedly pushes his partner in crime, Joe, overboard from their boat in a clear attempt to effectively dispose of him.

#2
Captain Blight
In WDCS283 Captain Blight's Mystery Ship the ducks are shanghaied aboard a perilous ship whose captain is smuggling guns and bombs for a revolution. They are forced to slave their days away, until Donald refuses to work anymore. Then the blackhearted captain makes him walk the plank...

#1
Blacksnake McQuirt
In FC0199 Sheriff of Bullet Valley rancher Blacksnake McQuirt has invented a devious way of stealing cattle from the other ranchers. But rookie sheriff Donald is on to him.

McQuirt clearly deserves the dubious title of being the worst criminal. He not only threatens to kill Donald - he actually goes through with the threat! Thinking he has been successful he rides off singing. A particularly nasty criminal without scruples...
