Dedicated
readers have often attempted to make maps of Duckburg and
its vicinity from scattered mentionings and panels in Carl Barks'
comic books, but all such attempts have as much chance of success
as drawing a picture in the water. Barks never gave any clear
indications of the whereabouts of the buildings, lakes and
landmarks he invented. He once commented on Duckburg that 'it
changed every time I had a story. It was a village, it was a big
city. It was a city on the ocean, and a city in the desert. It
was wherever I needed it...'
The same is true for Duckburg's
surroundings. Touring the outskirts of the town would take
you to a multitude of interesting places, but you would rarely be
given any clue as to where they are actually located.
So these pages will take you on a grand tour in the vicinity of Duckburg without attempting to pinpoint the whereabouts of the few chosen subjects. Just sit back and enjoy the tour...
The pages are divided into categories and contain only a few examples. Complete listings of the named places visited by the ducks can be found HERE (under Locations in the subgroup The Register).
