It is really quite strange! The skinflintillionaire Scrooge McDuck - who makes a point of saving every penny - has in fact an enormous staff on his payroll. Of course he would never be able to run his empire single-handedly, but still it seems that he is pouring money out on a multitude of employees without much thought of the costs. Of course, Donald is on the payroll at starvation wages!
This page will take a glimpse at a fraction of Scrooge's staff. It will confine itself to only showing groups of people who regularly work with him in the Duckburg area, although he is known to have numerous employees all over the world as well.

THE BOOKKEEPERS
Barks tended to draw his secondary characters with special characteristics, enabling us to easily identify what type of job they had. When he drew bookkeepers, they usually wore a green visor.

THE CLERKS
Scrooge has an abundance of clerks on his payroll. Or perhaps they are just fighting over the same few jobs, because they are almost never seen twice in Barks' stories.

THE SECRETARIES
In the days when Barks drew his comics secretaries were usually female, but for some reason he often used male secretaries as well. However, the most memorable ones were women: Emily Quackfaster and Daisy Duck are recurrent examples.

THE BUTLERS
Why would the miserly Scrooge hire a butler in the first place? A butler is more of a status symbol and that is not what Scrooge normally looks for. But they are there for all to see, although one may suspect that they are not that happy in their employment, because they are never seen twice!

THE DRIVERS
It looks like Scrooge has a thing with chauffeurs in uniform. For every car he owns - and that is a lot - he has a different driver. The only recurrent one is Donald Duck who is usually not even paid for his services. Normally he is even required to bring his own car!
