Although Carl Barks was multifaceted as an artist, he is undoubtedly best known for his comic book stories and his oil paintings, which kept him busy for the entire second half of his long life. This page attempts to show certain motifs from his long production where Barks' work would sometimes run along the same lines. The sub-pages are divided into 4 categories, and you will be given the opportunity of comparing his work in different media as well as seeing how he developed totally new scenes within the same restricted area. The topic for this page is Barks' multiple Money Bin Scenes.

By far, the most used specific location in Carl Barks' graphic work is Scrooge's Money Bin. It has been portrayed in multiple stories, paintings, and even a few figurines. Barks never really decided how this focal point of Duckburg should look, neither outside nor inside. This was partly due to different needs in the plots which dictated the Money Bin to appear in specific versions, but mostly we know it as a cube standing on an otherwise empty lot.
There can be no doubt that Barks liked the special piggy bank and as time went by he developed it into a gigantic landmark containing 3 acres of money towering to the height of 90 feet! Knowing Scrooge's (almost) unsavoury knack for money it comes as no big surprise that he knows every coin by heart and every bill by its serial number! In short, he really dives into the stuff...
