Carl Barks used thousands of animal characters acting as real animals or humans in his numerous stories. In his comic books - as well as in real life - there is a very wide span between ordinary dumb animals and ordinary clothed human beings, but Barks managed to bridge the span in so many ways that one must admire his diversity and imaginative thinking. In the world of the so-called funny animals it is understood, and expected, that animals mostly stand upright, are clothed, and have the ability of speech - in short, they look and act like humans. Barks' secondary characters covered a vast area in that field in varying degrees of human imitation, and the sub-pages give examples from Barks' overwhelming gallery of anthropomorphic creations.

NB.: The below mentioned stages may be seen as a loose imitation of an evolutionary ladder, but they are also introduced to make it easier for you to recognize and browse the subjects. Bear in mind, though, that all animals, animal characters, and humans in Barks' vast universe have rights and preferences, and they each fill equally important parts in the stories.
