Carl Barks got ideas for his comic book stories from a multitude of sources, but perhaps the most interesting source was Literature. Barks often used ideas from books as parts of plots for his stories. As you will see from the sub-pages, he made good use of many different types of literature, but it is important to emphasize that the resulting stories were definitely his own.
The selected stories are just a few examples from a large collection of literary influenced stories. They have been roughly divided into 4 groupings with 10 in each group mentioned in chronological order. You will probably miss some stories and perhaps some characters - such as the recurring Santa Claus - but all in all you will get a pretty good idea of how Barks conceived many of his ideas and how he transformed them to fit into his duck universe.
