There
is nothing wrong getting inspiration from other artists or
authors - provided that it is done with extreme moderation and is
only used as a jumping-off ground for one's own ideas. Even
famous authors such as William Shakespeare and Hans Christian
Andersen did it to some extent. And a great many duck artists
have been inspired by Barks' artwork throughout the years.
In
some cases the copying was done by whole teams (separate writers,
plotters, and inkers) but on this page we are only looking
at the finished art. Only a few artists have been selected to
represent a variety of different types of inspiration. These
should only be looked upon as representatives of the multitude of
dedicated and
skillful
duck artists who hold Carl Barks as their idol.
NB.: The panels representing the work of the inspired are shown with the original story codes used by the publishers as not all of the stories have appeared in the USA.
