Grandma Duck was a primary
character whom Carl Barks inherited from the Disney organisation.
She is an energetic old lady who spends most of her time helping
and caring for her animals, the farmhand Gus Goose, and visiting
members of her family with no concern for herself. Barks only
used her in 33 stories*. Half of them were written by other
artists, though, and Barks 'only' drew the panels following the
scripts to the letter; the interest was not too great and he was
not inspired! In his own stories Barks also seemed somewhat
reluctant to use her. She usually participated in the story
briefly and often was used only as 'filling' or as a catalyst for
the plots.
In the sub-pages you are presented to all the stories in which
Barks drew with Grandma and they have been divided into two main
sections in chronological order within each group; one where
Barks just did the art and one where he did it all (i.e. script
and art).
