Barks produced a great many front covers. Although it was certainly not his primary job, his skill was of such a magnitude that he succeeded in furnishing about half of his comic stories with front covers, too. Many of them sprang from his own imagination and some were ideas from other people. In several cases the covers illustrated the adventure story inside. And in a few instances - towards the later years - he supplied ideas for other artists to draw. But all his work in this particular niche is imbued with the mark of a master.
In the following pages all of Barks' front covers are mentioned as far as can be established, but in some instances there will forever be some doubt.
