All the characters in Carl Barks' duck universe are experts in their own fields; Scrooge earns money, Grandma knows farming, Gladstone finds valuables, Daisy knows fashion, Gyro creates inventions, Magica masters magic, the nephews are perfect Junior Woodchucks, Donald...
Donald!? What is Donald good at? Despite the fact that we have seen him in more job situations than can be counted, he seldom appeared as being on top of things. Granted, his role in the duck universe is that of being somewhat of a symbol for all sorts of people - their strengths and frailties - but, surely, there must be more to him than just being a worker in the skunk oil factory or slaving away in Scrooge's Money Bin polishing his money.

Here are some of the (rare) moments in which Donald not only holds a job but he actually executes highly qualified jobs that require lengthy education and expert skill. Maybe there is more to Donald than we know ...

THE SKILLS
To perform the jobs that Donald did in the examples shown below, he must have had some basic training or even an education. Otherwise he would not have been able to do them. Still, we are never shown any diplomas...

Donald has been at sea in numerous stories, and in many of them he has actually steered ships of varying sizes.

ASTRONAUT
Not only has Donald managed several space ships; he also walked on the Moon and other celestial bodies.

AIR PILOT
Flying airplanes in a multitude of sizes and for a multitude of purposes seem to be natural for Donald.

HOTEL MANAGER
On two occasions Donald has acted in this task of great responsibility.

HAIRDRESSER
It requires several years of education before you are fully educated in this job.

SOUND DOCTOR

JOCKEY
Years of hard training and intense knowledge of racing horses precedes this prestigious job.

BLACKSMITH
Donald must have worked for several years in this job to require the skills - and muscles - needed.

THE BOSS
In a few stories Donald even became an entrepreneur in his own business doing jobs that do not necessarily require much skill...

SALVAGER

WRECKER

DIVER

MOVER

EXTRA
Donald has been tested for more or less skilled jobs on several occasions. Here are some of the results:
